T’IS SO SWEET

'Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus,

Just to take Him at His Word;

Just to rest upon His promise,

 Just to know, "Thus says the Lord!"

Walking with Jesus may seem to be a bland way to live to the world. But we Christians know that the ups and down of our walk is anything short of boring. There are times where God is our nearest and dearest friend, and we share our joys and thank him for our blessings. There are other times when the pressures and worries of life become too much to bear and we cry out to the Lord to make our sufferings go away or to give us the grace to handle them. The hours in His presence restore us and allow us to breathe again.

As we go through the highs and lows of life, our relationship with Christ matures. Like a child clinging to a steady surface and stumbling through those first precious steps, we begin our journey. Soon the child is able to walk, a bit more nimble, but still holding on for balance. Eventually she lets go and takes those first steps for herself until one day she’s off and running. And from that first faltering step, her Father has been there, with a watchful eye and arms open wide, ever ready to catch her should she fall.

On this journey with Christ, we learn through our victories and our failures that nothing is sweeter than to trust in Him. To know Him through the good or bad is to know that He is faithful. His eye is on us. His arms are open.  He will steady us. He will catch us should we fall. And so we run.
